HOPE NURSERY SCHOOL
Work Hard and Progress

The latest news from Hope Nursery.

An Independance Day Parade was held in front of President Jammeh's wife. This was organised especially for the nursery school children and was a major day out for Hope Nursery.

"During March, I witnessed the joy of seeing a child learn to hold a pencil for the first time and the pride on their faces at having been able to produce a tangible piece of school work. This was made possible by the generoscity of a rare visiting tourist" said Fiona.

News of Fiona's involvement with the school has had a positive effect, there have been several new registrations as parents want to associate their children to a school with an English connection.
We are pleased to report that Mr Koroma has now found a new home to rent. Despite the hard times he still managed to turn up for work and put on a smiley face for the children, though the picture opposite shows the stress.

We have managed to get our first three sponsorships for the school. Mr Joseph has unfortunately had some difficulty in extracting the money from the Gambian banks but hopefully that will be resolved soon. School has almost finished for this year so we expect the new children to start attending next term.

The banks have been sorted out and Mr Joseph has his sponsorship money. We have also had our fourth child sponsored and Fiona has been in contact with some of the local help organisations in Gambia. We are hoping for more assistance from this quarter in the near future - keep your fingers crossed. Mr Joseph is also hoping to get either a digital camera, or a mobile phone with a camera included, to be able to take some photographs of the new children and e-mail them to us for the web site.
